Evidence-based therapy for trauma, life transitions, and uncertainty
I work with adults who are feeling held back by past experiences. If you often look like you have it all together on the outside, but are quietly struggling inside, you are in the right place.
Working with adults who feel stuck and are ready to stop carrying it alone.
Maybe you came here searching for therapy because someone you know had a positive experience, or maybe that person encouraged you to reach out. I often hear people worry, "I don't think what I've been through is bad enough to need therapy" or "I don't want to waste a therapist's time with what's going on in my life." There is no checklist or measure of pain and suffering someone has to meet in order to be deserving of support. If something, one thing or many, is weighing on you, that is enough. Therapy is for anyone who wants support in feeling better than how they are feeling right now.
You might benefit from therapy if:
Does any of this sound familiar? "I don't know if I can trust anyone." "It's not safe to go to social events." "I don't have any control over my emotions." "I'm unlovable." "If people really knew me, they would leave me." "People will always hurt you if you let them in." It doesn't have to stay this way.
I started this practice for people who have spent a long time being told, or telling themselves, that what they've been through isn't bad enough to need support. I'm Alexandra Henry, a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW) practicing in Washington State.
My therapeutic philosophy is rooted in the belief that every person I work with already has what they need to heal. My job is to help them find it. My approach is client-centered and emphasizes each person's inherent ability to heal from trauma by gaining new tools and highlighting their strengths.
I draw primarily from cognitive behavioral therapy and am specifically trained in cognitive processing therapy (CPT), prolonged exposure (PE), and narrative exposure therapy (NET). My sessions tend to be more structured and focused on learning tools and skills, rather than open-ended talk therapy.
I tend to be warm and direct. I'll be honest with you about what to expect, check in often about how things are going, and always make sure you're moving at a pace that feels right. I work best with people who are ready to stop pushing it down and want real tools for feeling better.

I offer individual therapy for adults navigating all kinds of hard things, whether that is trauma and PTSD, anxiety, depression, or simply feeling stuck in ways that are difficult to name. Every session is tailored to you, your history, your pace, your goals.
After stressful or scary experiences, people are often left feeling guilt, shame, self-blame, confusion, anger, sadness, and worry. In order to make sense of what has happened, we work through these emotions by naming them and making space to feel them, while also recognizing which emotions may be fueled by inaccurate or unhelpful beliefs.
Sometimes these beliefs are built over time through negative messages, victim blaming, or gaslighting. The goal of therapy is to become curious about these beliefs and decide whether they are worth shifting toward something more accurate and helpful. If you are interested in identifying goals for yourself, both in and outside of therapy, and want support in moving toward those goals, I may be a good fit for you.
Using proven, structured approaches to help you gradually face what has been driving avoidance and fear, so that your world can open back up again.
Whether it shows up as constant worry, low mood, or just a persistent sense that something is off, therapy can help you understand what is happening and find your way through it.
Sometimes the hardest thing to describe is also the most real. If you just know something needs to change but you are not sure what, that is a perfectly valid place to start.
The relationship between therapist and client is itself part of the healing. Here is what you can count on when we work together.
The relationship between therapist and client is itself part of the healing, and that only works if it is real.
You are the expert on your own life and I'm here to walk alongside you to support you in the goals that you want to prioritize.
The goal is not to need therapy forever. It is to give you the tools and insight to navigate life with more freedom and less fear. I want you leaving sessions feeling more capable, not more dependent.
We build a path forward together that's tailored to your life and your goals.
